Tesla's Full Self-Driving System: Evaluating Advancements and Challenges The Tesla autopilot system, also known as Full Self-Driving (FSD), is a groundbreaking innovation designed to achieve full vehicle autonomy in the near future ( Tesla Autopilot: What is it and how does it work? , 2023). This system is offered at three levels, each varying in features and pricing: the basic autopilot system, enhanced autopilot, and the full self-driving capability (Ahsan, 2023). A key component across all three levels is Tesla Vision, a technology that uses eight externally installed cameras to provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle's surroundings. Tesla Vision supports essential features such as obstacle detection and real-time analysis of road conditions, enhancing safety and automation (Dnistran, 2023). Additionally, Tesla has replaced traditional dashboard controls with a central touchscreen device, which serves as the interface for the Graphical User Interface (GUI). This screen, p...

Intro Letter Draft 2

Dear Professor Blackstone, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Denzel, and I am currently studying and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering in the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). I am hoping to provide some insights in this blog as to why I chose this specific course to study and what my goals are for this module. I recently graduated about two years ago with a mechanical engineering diploma from Singapore Polytechnic. But if I am being honest with you, studying engineering and being an engineer wasn't exactly what I wanted in the past. If you had asked me back when I was about 18 years old about what exactly I was interested in, I would have said something drastically different, maybe somewhere along the lines of studying communications, design, and art, as that was what I was more interested in back then instead of physics and solving math equations. However, my grades were not good enough to enter the course of my choice after my O levels, which in tu...

Critical Reflections for UCS1001

Module Learning Ever since secondary school, I have noticed that I am particularly weak at writing even though I was a kid who read alot of books back in the days. My teachers were telling me that even though I managed to nail most of the points, my content was just all over the place, making my essays really messy. This made me really demoralised and I began to doubt my writing abilities. However, throughout the course of this module, I managed to get rid of that toxic mindset as I was able to put in more practice in terms of report writings. Additionally, there were plenty of resources provided to us which helped me gain more confidence. Overall, it really helped me improve the standard of my writing and also showed me how there is always room for improvement. At the beginning of the module, I started off feeling unsure about structuring reports and how to effectively communicate complex information over to my readers as I was fresh out of national service and a little rusty even tho...

The Tesla autopilot system, also known as Full Self Driving (FSD) is a revolutionary autopilot system designed to become fully autonomous soon ( Tesla Autopilot: What is it and how does it work?, 2023). Our research focuses primarily on the safety features of the system, the autopilot software, and how they work in conjunction with the Graphical User Interface (GUI). There are three levels of the autopilot system which vary based on their pricing. It starts with the basic autopiloting system, followed by the enhanced autopiloting system, and the full self-driving capability system, which costs more than the base features of the autopilot system (Ahsan, 2023). Tesla Vision, which consists of eight externally installed cameras around the vehicle provides a 360-degree view of its surroundings, to identify obstacles one might encounter on the road (Dnistran, 2023). Tesla has also removed the traditional buttons and controls on the dashboard and replaced them with a big touchs...

(Ahsan, 2023) Tesla Vision, which are eight externally installed cameras around the vehicle provide a 360-degree view of its surroundings, so as to identify whatever obstacles you might encounter on the road. Tesla recently made the switch from radar to cameras as they believe that the cameras will be able to view i...
